Akizuki, meaning “Autumn Moon,” takes its name from its beautifully round, moon-like shape and autumn harvest season, making it especially fitting for Mid-Autumn.

It was developed from the lineage of three of Japan’s best-known pear cultivars — Kosui, Hosui and Niitaka. Akizuki combines generous size, abundant juice, soft yet crisp flesh, pronounced sweetness and gentle acidity. This TFD selection comes in an impressive Extra-Large 5L size, approximately 500g each.

The pears are grown in Fukushima, one of Japan’s leading Japanese pear-producing regions. Fukushima ranked No.3 in Japan for Japanese pear harvest volume in 2024, producing approximately 14,800 tonnes. Akizuki reaches its seasonal peak here from around mid-September to early October, when its large fruit, abundant juice and well-developed sweetness come together at their best.

Serve & Store

Storage: Refrigerate after delivery, preferably wrapped or inside a bag to minimise moisture loss.
Serving: Akizuki does not require post-harvest ripening. Enjoy chilled and cut just before serving for its crisp texture and abundant juice.
