Furano is one of Hokkaido’s established melon-growing regions, producing red-fleshed melons with vivid orange flesh, a full melon aroma and rich flavour.

The fruit is grown in the inland Furano Basin, where warm summer days are followed by considerably cooler nights. During the day, melon plants build assimilates through photosynthesis, while the cooler nighttime temperatures reduce respiration and help retain more of what the plant has produced. Well-drained growing areas around the basin further support melon cultivation.

Furano’s red-fleshed melons are produced under a minimum 14° Brix standard, providing a measurable baseline for sweetness. Rather than sweetness alone, however, the appeal is the combination of aromatic red flesh, succulent texture and the flavour concentration expected from one of Hokkaido’s long-established melon regions.

③ Serve & Store

• Storage: Keep the whole melon in a cool, air-conditioned place away from direct sunlight until ripe. Once ripe, refrigerate and enjoy promptly.
• Before Serving: Chill for approximately 2–3 hours before eating for the best balance of aroma and texture.
