Description
Nansui is a Nagano-born Japanese pear, developed by the Nagano Prefecture Nanshin Agricultural Experiment Station from Echigo × Shinsui. The cultivar is distinguished by its naturally high sugar accumulation, typically around 14–15° Brix, with relatively low acidity and abundant juice.
That balance creates Nansui’s signature character: deep, concentrated sweetness rather than a sharp sweet-tart profile, supported by the crisp, juicy texture expected of Japanese pears. Its sugar level is notably higher than several major Japanese pear cultivars, while excellent storability allows the fruit to retain its quality well beyond the main autumn harvest period.
Serve & Store
- Storage: Refrigerate promptly after delivery, ideally inside a bag or wrapped to prevent moisture loss. Avoid room-temperature storage in Singapore’s climate.
- Serving: Enjoy cool rather than ice-cold; excessive chilling can mute the pear’s natural sweetness.
