Description

Grown in the former Kurosaki area of Niigata City, Kurosaki Chamame is a celebrated Japanese edamame variety renowned for its rich umami, distinctive aroma, and exceptionally satisfying texture.

Aoki Farm – Over 300 Years of Farming Tradition

Founded over 300 years ago, Aoki Farm has been cultivating crops in the historic Kurosaki district of Niigata since the Edo period. Generation after generation, the farm has carefully preserved traditional farming knowledge while continuing to produce some of Niigata's finest seasonal produce.

Today, that same dedication and craftsmanship can be found in every pod of their Kurosaki Chamame, grown with exceptional care and harvested at the peak of freshness.

Although similar in appearance to ordinary green soybeans, Kurosaki Chamame is distinguished by the delicate light-brown tint of its inner skin. This unique characteristic gives the beans their name, chamame, meaning “brown beans” in Japanese.

Cultivated in the rich fields of Niigata’s Kurosaki area.

Deeply loved by the people of Niigata, Kurosaki Chamame is one of the region’s most treasured summer delicacies. Each pod is filled with plump beans that offer an intense natural sweetness, deep savoury flavour, and a wonderfully fragrant aroma that becomes even more noticeable when cooked.

The Kurosaki Chamame from Aoki Farm is harvested early in the morning and shipped directly while exceptionally fresh. By delivering the beans soon after harvesting, their concentrated umami, delicate sweetness, and premium texture can be enjoyed at their very best.

Harvested before sunrise for exceptional freshness.
