Kumamoto produces around 40% of Japan’s Dekopon, and Yatsushiro offers the ideal growing conditions for the fruit, with its warm climate, long daylight hours, and rich volcanic soil. Grown in accordance with the original Dekopon standards, each fruit must meet strict JA Kumamoto regulations, including a sugar content of 13% or higher and acidity below 1%.
