Description
Shimabara Hand-Stretched Somen with Nagasaki Sea Salt Broth – Plant-Based, Additive-Free
Artisan Japanese Noodles with Over 300 Years of History
Smooth texture and firm resilience define Shimabara hand-stretched somen, a traditional noodle that traces its roots to the 17th century. After the Shimabara Rebellion, noodle-making techniques were brought from Shodoshima and flourished in southern Shimabara.
Each strand is crafted through twelve meticulous steps over 30 hours. Starting from just 10 cm, the dough is gradually stretched to over 2 meters, creating somen that maintains its strength and chew whether chilled or in hot broth.
Crafted with Purity and Simplicity
Made from just four ingredients—100% Kyushu-grown wheat, Nagasaki sea salt, cottonseed oil, and pure spring water—these noodles are free from additives and chemical seasonings.
Year-Round Enjoyment with a Flavorful Twist
This easy-to-prepare version lets you enjoy authentic Shimabara noodles anytime. Paired with a savory broth made with Nagasaki sea salt, it delivers a clean and comforting taste.
