KUSHIYASEN Okara Karinto – Original
A light, crisp bite. A gentle sweetness. A simple pleasure to return to.
These handmade Japanese okara karinto began with a mother making snacks for her children. Today, that same comforting idea lives on in a snack that is just as welcome beside your afternoon tea as it is on a sharing plate with friends.
✨ What Makes These Karinto Special?
01 — Born from a Mother’s Kitchen
The inspiration came from the maker’s wife, who wanted to include more soybean foods in her children’s diet. She began making snacks with okara, the soybean pulp left from making tofu.
That homemade treat became the starting point for KUSHIYASEN’s okara karinto—a way to turn a familiar Japanese ingredient into something the family could enjoy.
02 — Made with Fukuyutaka Soybean Okara
At the heart of the recipe is okara from Fukuoka-grown Fukuyutaka soybeans. Traditionally used in Japanese home cooking, its mild character lends itself beautifully to this gently sweet snack.
The original flavour keeps the experience simple, letting the delicate sweetness and satisfying texture take centre stage.
03 — A Light, Crisp Bite
The texture is part of the pleasure: light and crisp, with a gentle crunch that makes each bite satisfying.
Handmade and subtly sweet, these karinto bring a comforting touch to a quiet break or an easy conversation around the table.
