🍃 From the Birthplace of Shizuoka Tea

Ashikubo is known as the birthplace of Shizuoka tea. According to tradition, around 780 years ago, the Buddhist monk Shoichi Kokushi planted tea seeds brought back from China in Ashikubo, marking the beginning of tea cultivation in Shizuoka.

The area later became a historic tea region, with tea also cherished by Tokugawa Ieyasu. Today, high-quality Honyama tea continues to be grown in Ashikubo’s rich natural surroundings.
